At the Copenhagen Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCCC), our goal is to ensure that patients receive the best possible care, treatment, and the strongest research efforts. We do this to provide patients with the best outcomes and the highest quality of treatment and care.

Research is vital because it drives innovation and improves patient care. By collaborating high standards of clinical practice and research, we can achieve higher quality results and make significant advancements in cancer treatment.

Organisation of the Public Health Care System in Denmark

The Danish healthcare system is governed by the state, 5 regions and 98 municipalities in Denmark. Health care is predominantly public and is funded through state and municipal taxes.

Research - a core focus area

Research is a core focus area of CCCC, and we believe, that high quality research is the prerequisite for optimal treatment and care. In addition, research ensures that CCCC rethinks the efforts made towards cancer patients and their relatives.

Research Strategy of the Capital Region and CCCC

With the ambition to move research closer to patients and treatment, the Capital Region published an updated regional research strategy in 2023.

The CCCC Research Board

A CCCC Research Board was formally established in 2025. The board will provide professional direction, prioritization, and facilitate broad collaborations for CCCC to further improve the research footprints of Copenhagen Comprehensive Cancer Center in the future.

Formal collaborations between CCCC and University Research institutes are formally established, e.g. nationally with the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Copenhagen.
