Research Strategy of the Capital Region and CCCC
With the ambition to move research closer to patients and treatment, the Capital Region published an updated regional research strategy in 2023. The strategy was the result of a two-year process within the political research committee, with an intention to deliver high quality healthcare services to citizens and patients through an evidence-based approach, and continuously developing and improving quality and efficient use of resources.
From the Regional Research Strategy 2023: “The healthcare system faces some major challenges that will intensify in the coming years in parallel with a changing demographic and consequent lack of staff resources. The number and the composition of citizens in need of health services will change in step with the fact that, fortunately, more people are getting older, and that more patients are arriving with complex multi-morbid conditions. At the same time, we are constantly developing new and better treatment options."
The above emphasizes upcoming health care challenges, and the Capital Region wants to visualize the pivotal role research will play in finding solutions to these issues.
The aim of CCCC in the Capital region is to deliver professional treatment, care, and patient courses based on high quality research results.
We need researchers investigating preventive efforts, investigations, treatments, care, and rehabilitation as we aim to strengthen the evidence for all that we do. We encourage broad and engaging collaborations to bring skills and knowledge of all professional groups into play. Personalized treatment options must be founded on solid evidence from clinical trials, and patient courses and care should be aligned with each patient's needs and desires in a professional manner.
Strategic areas and initiatives from the regional strategy
The Capital region has determined the below three overall themes to set a strategic direc-tion for research in the coming years:
A. Patient-near research for and with everyone
The research must take place close to and together with the patients in the clinical work, to create an even more evidence-based healthcare system, contributing to all patient catego-ries experience treatment and procedures with great value.
B. Research in support of specialized treatments
We must support continued development of clinical research within the more specialized forms of treatment, to create more gentle and effective treatments for the benefit of pa-tients and the collective healthcare system.
C. Best conditions for research and communication
We want to create the best conditions for research and give researchers good conditions to improve their own skills and thereby develop, initiate, implement, and disseminate their re-search. We want to create attractive research environments that can retain, attract, and develop skilled researchers.
