Home monitoring

If it is necessary to monitor blood pressure regularly during pregnancy, this can most often be done from home. Read here how to do it and what to be aware of.

We have determined that you have high blood pressure or preeclampsia, or that you are at risk of developing it during your pregnancy. You have the option of staying at home, but you must monitor your pregnancy so that we can keep an eye on how it develops. This means that you yourself must:

  • Measure your blood pressure and pulse
  • Make a urine sample
  • Fill in the questionnaire

You will need to record the measurements in MinSP. You can download the App on your smartphone or log in to www.minsundhedsplatform.dk. You have to use MitID.

Record your blood pressure and pulse:

Monday: __Tuesday:__ Wednesday:__ Thursday:__ Friday:__ Saturday:__ Sunday:__

Monday: __ Tuesday:__ Wednesday:__ Thursday:__ Friday:__ Saturday:__ Sunday:__

You will have to make a urine sample:

We will control your measurements and results (data check):

How to measure your blood pressure:

Find a place where you can sit undisturbed while taking the measurements. You are not allowed to talk, watch TV, or use a mobile phone/tablet during the measurements. You should sit in a chair with a backrest with both feet on the floor, without crossing your legs.

  • Rest at least 10 minutes before you start
  • Place the cuff on your left upper arm, so that the tube from the blood pressure monitor is on the inside of the arm. The cuff should be a few centimeters above where your elbow bends
  • Push the button and wait
  • Repeat the measurement 3 times with approximately 1 minute in between if your blood pressure is above 135/85 and send us the last two measurements. If your blood pressure is below 135/85, you only need to measure it once and send us the result.

Send the measurements in MinSP

You must send us your measurements through the MinSP app.

Here's how:

  • Enter the result in MinSP
  • If you have it, fill in the questionnaire about your well being

Once you have entered your answers and pressed 'Save', the answers will automatically be transferred to your medical record.

Practicalities

Data check

Once you have completed your measurements, the midwife will review your submitted data. She will assess your condition and whether the data quality is OK and will contact you if necessary. In some cases, it may be necessary to repeat a measurement.

You can follow our notes in MinSP

Remember to contact us if your condition changes.

Return the equipment

Remember to return any borrowed equipment when you are done with it. Therefore, you need to bring it to the hospital when you go into labor.
