Welcome to the emergency admissions department - fast track

Patient information about your stay if you arrive at the emergency department at Herlev Hospital with acute injury or illness that requires treatment as soon as possible.

The emergency admissions department receives patients with acute injury or illness. We do not necessarily treat patients in the order they come in, but on the basis of a medical assessment. This applies regardless of whether you have been referred by your general practitioner, a doctor from the emergency services, an ambulance or via the medical helpline 1813.

What happens in the emergency admissions department

A typical course of treatment in the emergency admissions department:

  • After your arrival at the emergency admissions department, your condition and your need for treatment will be assessed by the personel once available.
  • Perhaps your injury will be treated by a treatment nurse and you will not need any further treatment.
  • If you need further treatment, you will be transferred to a doctor.
  • Depending on your symptoms, you may need to go for an X-ray.
  • You will be examined by a doctor, who will discuss your further treatment with you.

Your course of treatment may vary depending on your treatment need and the number of patients in the emergency admissions department.

While you are waiting

We observe everyone in the waiting area. Even though you do not get called in at the expected time or at the time the medical helpline 1813 assigned to you, we have not forgotten about you.

If you experience that your condition or injury is getting worse, please contact the staff. Perhaps you need pain-relieving medicine or something else.

If you need to leave the department, please contact the staff.

Food and drink

Remember to ask the staff whether you need to stop eating and drinking (fast).

You can also buy refreshments in vending machines outside the children's acute admissions department next to the waiting room. It is also possible to buy refreshments in a cafeteria or in 7-Eleven at Gernes Torv – in the lobby – by entrance 1.

Parking
There is unlimited parking available in the new parking garage by the emergency department. Otherwise, parking on the hospital grounds is time-limited at all hours.

If you need to extend your parking time, you can call the information desk at +45 38 68 38 68. You will need to provide your vehicle's registration number.

Charge your mobile phone

You can charge your mobile phone in the charging cabinet placed next to the restroom.

The emergency admissions department has open visiting hours. We ask you and your relatives to show consideration for the other patients.

Valuables during admission

Questions

We are happy to answer any of your questions. Perhaps write down your questions, so you remember them when you talk to a doctor or a nurse.
