Information to patients after transperineally ultrasound-guided biopsy of the prostate
During biopsy of the prostate a needle is introduced through the perineum into the prostate. This is done several times.
After the biopsy you can expect blood in the urine and sperm.
There is a slight risk that the biopsy can cause an infektion, and for the next 7 days you should be aware of your temperature.
If your temperature should rise to more than 38 centigrade during the next 7 days, you must immediately contact Emergency telephone 1813. Tell them that according to the instruction for Department of Urology you must be hospitalized to Herlev Hospital for antibiotic treatment.
