Our research unit aims to uncover new endocrinological insights into essential biological processes that can ultimately benefit patients. A significant part of our research originates from clinical observations and questions that we cannot immediately answer. We investigate many of these issues in the laboratory, for example using genetically modified mice combined with analyses of tissue samples collected from patients, which we can culture in the lab and use to test various treatments before trying them in patients. In this way, we ensure that our research is rooted in clinical reality — and our goal is always for the research to ultimately lead to clinical trials and, subsequently, new evidence-based treatments for our patients. Therefore, our research group consists of a mix of molecular biologists, chemists, engineers, biologists, and physicians, all working closely together on these translational projects.
