Focus areas

​In the RRU we mainly conduct research closely related to radiotherapy treatment for our cancer patients.​ Many research projects have a direct influence on how patients are treated in the clinic either directly or on a longer time scale

Some areas of special interest are:

  • Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) including cone beam CT (CBCT), surface scanning, and ultrasound
  • The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in radiotherapy (RT), especially functional MRI for response assessment and MR-only RT
  • Dose calculation with special focus on Monte Carlo simulations
  • Motion management, including deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) for lung and breast cancer patients
  • Adaptive radiotherapy (ART), including focus on deformable image registration, auto contouring and re-planning
