Patient Advisor

The Patient Advisor (also called the Patient Counsellor) can give you advice and guidance on how to deal with your stay at the hospital and how to navigate the Danish Healthcare System in general.​

​Patient Advisor - what they can do for you

The patient advisor can answer any questions you or your family have about a stay in hospital.​

Your patient advisor can:

  • Tell you where you can receive specific treatment or refer you to someone who has the relevant information.
  • Facilitate communication between the patient and the health services.
  • Advise you on your rights as a patient.
  • Tell you about waiting times for treatment at both public and private hospitals/clinics.
  • Tell you about the rules for choosing freely between hospitals in Denmark.
  • Tell you about the rules for transport to and from your place of treatment.
  • Advise you on how to file a complaint, including reporting unintentional incidents.
  • Advise you on how you can apply for damages/compensation if you suffer injury from your treatment.
  • Assist you in preparing and forwarding written complaints and notification of claims for compensation.
  • Extended free choice of hospitals 

Confidentiality

Your patient advisor has a duty of confidentiality and we can assure you that anything you say will remain confidential. Your patient counsellor will only pass on information to other parties with your consent.

 If you have any questions regarding your course of treatment, please contact the staff at your place of treatment. If you have any general questions regarding your treatment options, rights or similar, you can contact a patient adviser. You are free to choose any patient adviser.
